How Can I Support Mentors 4 Kids?

1. Understand who we are: Mentors 4 Kids was founded in 2009 to create a mentoring program. This grassroots effort accommodates children of all backgrounds, abilities, levels of need and is the only community based mentoring program in the 6 counties that we serve. We try to maximize match success through screening, matching and training procedures, with all potential mentors and mentees. M4K is an incorporated Illinois non-profit organization and has been granted a public charity status, 501(c)(3) organization, by the IRS.

2. Understand our vision: Mentors 4 Kids, Inc., envisions a society in which all youth have the chance to develop into their full potential, experience a nurturing one-on-one relationship with a caring adult, and to be a part of a caring, supportive community that cultivates their growth and development.

3. Understand our mission: The mission of Mentors 4 Kids, Inc., is to provide children in need with caring, volunteer adult role models to befriend them and spend quality time with them.

4. Understand what a mentor is: A mentor is a volunteer who commits to supporting, guiding, and being a friend to a young person for at least one year. A mentor spends a minimum of six hours a month together, building a relationship while being a positive role model.

Mentors 4 Kids is currently serving in 6 counties including: Jefferson, Franklin, Williamson, Saline, White and Gallatin. Advisory Boards are created to enlist individuals that live and work in these areas to serve as advocates for M4K. They work directly with the Executive Director to understand the needs in their area.

Advisory Boards help to:

  • Promote the organization
  • Recruit Mentors
  • Recruit Mentees
  • Recruit Board Members
  • Fundraisers
  • Sponsors

Funding:
Mentors 4 Kids is funded entirely by fundraising, private donations, and private grants. We receive no government funding or grants and rely on the gracious support of people and businesses throughout the communities we serve.
